These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website at formationmoney.com and the related application and services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Formation Money LLC ("Formation," "we," "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
To use the Service, you must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract under applicable law. The Service is currently offered to residents of the United States only. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.
Formation is a personal financial management software product. The Service allows you to:
The Service is provided "as is" as a software-as-a-service tool. The features available to you depend on your subscription tier (see Section 5).
Formation does not provide personalized investment, financial, tax, accounting, or legal advice. Nothing on the Service constitutes a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or other financial instrument, or to adopt any particular financial, tax, or estate-planning strategy.
Information generated by the Service — including AI-generated summaries from AURA, projections, scenarios, calculator outputs, classifications, and any text or data displayed within the application — is for educational and informational purposes only. It is not tailored to your individual circumstances and may contain errors or omissions.
You are solely responsible for evaluating the merits and risks of any decision you make on the basis of information obtained through the Service. Past performance is not indicative of future results. You should consult a qualified, licensed professional before making any significant financial decision.
Formation Money LLC is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner, tax preparer, certified public accountant, or law firm. References to advisors on the Service describe independent third parties (see Section 9).
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us promptly at info@formationmoney.com of any unauthorized access. We are not liable for losses arising from your failure to safeguard your credentials.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information at registration and to keep that information current.
The Service is offered as a paid subscription (currently a single "Formation" plan, with additional plans or promotional pricing — such as founding-member pricing — offered from time to time). Current pricing and included features are shown on our pricing page and are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
You may cancel a paid subscription at any time from the in-app billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you retain access to paid features until then.

The Service uses Plaid, Inc. as its financial-data aggregation provider. When you link an account, you authorize Plaid to access information at your financial institution and to share that information with Formation for use within the Service. Plaid's services are governed by its own terms and privacy policy, available at plaid.com.
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide directly (for example, manual accounts, uploaded statements, equity-compensation grants, property addresses). We do not verify your inputs.
The Service may also connect a credit score through a credit provider (Array) and retrieve real-estate valuations and property records from property-data providers (such as RentCast) using addresses you supply. These features are optional and are governed by those providers' terms.
Aggregated data may be delayed, incomplete, or temporarily unavailable due to your financial institution's systems or aggregator outages. We are not liable for any decision you make on the basis of data that is later corrected.
The Service may include referrals to, or a directory of, independent third-party financial professionals ("Advisors"). Formation does not own, control, or employ Advisors, and today an introduction is made to a single partner Advisor rather than a full marketplace. We make no representation as to the qualifications, services, fees, or fitness of any Advisor for your circumstances.
Any engagement you enter with an Advisor is solely between you and that Advisor. You are responsible for performing your own due diligence (including reviewing the Advisor's Form ADV, Form CRS, or equivalent disclosure, and confirming licensing through BrokerCheck or the SEC's IAPD).
Formation may receive a referral fee or other compensation from Advisors in connection with introductions made through the Service. Where applicable, the existence and material terms of such arrangements will be disclosed at the point of introduction.
The AURA co-pilot feature produces text using artificial-intelligence models (currently provided by Anthropic, PBC). AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or out-of-date, even when it appears confident. You should independently verify any factual claim before relying on it. Formation does not warrant the accuracy of AI output and you accept the inherent limitations of AI-generated content when using AURA.
AI models do not have access to real-time market data unless explicitly described, and they are not trained to give personalized investment recommendations. See Section 3.
The Service, including its software, design, brand, logos, content, and the arrangement of data within the application, is the property of Formation Money LLC or its licensors and is protected by U.S. and international intellectual-property laws.
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
You retain ownership of any data you provide directly to the Service (for example, manual entries, goal definitions, document uploads). You grant Formation a worldwide, royalty-free license to process that data as necessary to provide the Service to you.
The Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party services (including Plaid, Stripe, Anthropic, Perplexity, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Resend, Twilio, Array, RentCast, Google, Netlify, and Supabase). Those services are governed by their own terms and we are not responsible for them. Use of a third-party service is at your own risk.
Our handling of your personal and financial information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. FORMATION DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, FREE OF ERRORS, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. YOU USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, FORMATION MONEY LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, INVESTMENT VALUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
FORMATION'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE FEES YOU PAID FORMATION IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Formation Money LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, liability, loss, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your use of the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms, (c) your violation of any third-party right, or (d) any data you submit to the Service.
You may terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription (if any) and emailing info@formationmoney.com to request account deletion. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason, with or without notice.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 3, 6, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19) will survive.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any feature) at any time, with or without notice. We may also modify these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Denver County, Colorado, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
You and Formation agree that any cause of action arising out of or related to the Service must be commenced within one (1) year after the cause of action accrues; otherwise, it is permanently barred.
