Most money tools flatten you to accounts.
Yours should know the entities that own them.
Mass-market aggregators are built for one tax return and a handful of linked accounts. That isn't what a high-net-worth household looks like. The money lives across many custodians, inside trusts and LLCs, tangled in equity comp and K-1s and multi-state taxes — the kind of complexity that used to force you to hand the whole thing to a wealth manager. Formation exists so you don't have to: an independent intelligence layer, driven by its proprietary AI, AURA, that organizes everything by the entity that owns it, cites every number to its source, and puts professional-grade clarity in your own hands — so you can manage your own wealth with confidence, and hand your CPA an organized, cited picture at tax time.

Meet the founder
Brad Porter
Founder & CEO, Formation Money
Brad is a veteran of digital wealth and advice. Over more than a decade — private banking at J.P. Morgan, digital-first wealth management at Personal Capital, independent advisory at Crestone Capital and Compound Planning — he advised business owners, founders, and executives through the moments that make a financial life complicated: concentrated stock, equity compensation, pre-liquidity events, private-market investments, and the decisions that follow.
A decade inside that world taught him one structural truth: wealth management runs on fragmented tooling. Investments live in one system, tax in another, estate documents in a drawer, equity comp in a spreadsheet, insurance nowhere — and the household’s actual life is scattered across all of them. Every discipline has its software. The household has none.
So he left to cure the fragmentation. Formation is the operating system for a household’s whole financial life — investments, tax, equity comp, estate, insurance, and cashflow resolving into one cited picture, organized by the entity that owns each piece. Not an advisor, and never a replacement for one: Formation takes no assets under management and never moves a dollar. Its job is to put professional-grade clarity in your own hands — so you can run your own money with confidence, and walk into any meeting with your CPA or advisor already knowing the numbers.

What we believe
Numbers are the hero.
Words explain why the numbers matter — they never stand in for them. Every screen leads with the figure, not the marketing.
Show your work.
Every number carries its lineage — sourced, computed, estimated, or stale — and you can click any of them to see exactly where it came from. Trust is earned by being checkable, not by being confident.
Run your own money.
Formation puts professional-grade clarity in your own hands, so you can manage your own wealth with confidence — without handing it to a wealth manager. When you do sit down with the CPA or advisor you keep, you bring an organized, cited, entity-aware picture instead of a binder.
Organized like your life.
Your trust holds the rental LLC; your RSUs vest at one custodian and your old options sit at another. The software should know that. We organize the household by the entity that owns each account.
Our commitments
No assets under management, ever. We don't make money managing your money — the only thing we sell is a clearer picture.
Read-only by design. We can never move money, place a trade, or change a holding.
We never sell your data. Your financial picture is yours; it is not a product we resell.
Every number is cited to its source. No black-box figures, ever.
Education-first. AURA analyzes and explains; it never auto-executes, and any move over $5,000 becomes a trade list you run yourself.
We build in the open, ship often, and let the work speak — numbers you can check, sources you can open.
